Back to see probably my all time favourite band. The Blockheads have been in my musical life since their inception in the late70's to present time with their great new cd 'Staring Down The Barrel. These are some of the best musicians I have ever seen, hard working in other bands when not touring as this fine ensemble. As the venue was 15 miles from me, I took the advantage of going both nights. I've met the members of the band many times over the years, so its always good to catch up. Had chats with Chaz Jankel,Mickey Gallagher, Norman Watt Roy and Dylan Howe about the Half Moon project, which they were well aware about and are giving their support to. When this band play the musical style is a hybrid of sources, rock, reggae, funk, jazz all mixed up with some of the best lyrics about. The setlist incuded songs from the aforementioned cd and mixed with classics from the impressive back catalogue
Sex N Drugs N Rock N Roll/I Wanna Be Straight/Inbetweenies/George The Human Pigeon/If I Was With A Woman/A Little Knowledge/Clever Trevor/Life In Your Hands/Greed/Hold Tight/Itinerant Child/Where's The Party?/Prophet Of Doom/What A Waste/Sweet Gene Vincent/Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick/Reasons To Be Cheerful/Blockheads
These guys provide a terrific nights entertainment, always to well filled venues. I've already got my ticket for April next year when I'm going to see them in Harlow.
