Chickenfoot III has just been released worldwide in some stunning new formats which include 3D packaging with glasses. Deluxe CD/DVD Ltd Edition, 12” vinyl edition and standard edition cd.Produced by Mike Fraser of AC/DC, Metallica and Voodoo Six credits, you know the production is going to be top notch. This album marks the second collaboration of the talents of Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith and features 10 tracks of musical epiphany, colossal stadium shaking riffs that moves the earth beneath your feet. The first three tracks ‘Last Temptation’, ‘Alright, Alright’' and 'Different Devil’ could have easily come from any Bon Jovi release from the last ten years, such is the uncanny resemblance. Satriani finally let’s rip on ‘Up Next’ a scorcher of a tune. My interest is tweaked from the two tunes on here, the aching beautiful ‘Come Closer’ which I am sure will become a Chickenfoot classic, and the awesome ‘Three And A Half Weeks’. The song’s poignant lyrics tackle the world’s economy and current levels of unemployment. The lyrics are taken directly from letters written to Sammy Hagar, following a suggestion from his long standing manager, Carter, who sadly passed away earlier this year during the recording of the new album. “I’ve received letters from lots of people, mostly fans, but some people just needing help, looking for work,” says Hagar.“Carter had told me to write a song called’ I Need a Job’ six months prior but the idea didn't dawn on me until I received a letter from a guy who had just returned from Afghanistan. At the end of his letter he wrote – ‘Can you help? I need a job’." Radio-friendly ‘Big Foot’ can do no wrong here and is a wonderful song with a massive rock beat that is so infectious you just cannot help but tap your foot and groove along. ‘Dubai Blues’ and Delta blues tinged ‘Something Going Wrong’ finish off the cd in fine style, the quality never slipping. Chickenfoot III will stand the band in good stead for the upcoming European tour in the New Year….Do not miss it
