Saturday 10th April 2010, and I was at one of my favourite venues, The Brighton Centre.
Very consumer friendly and great staff who dont rummage about in your bags and are very helpful with seating and other circumstances. On getting to the venue my friend and I went around the back of the venue to see who was about . Low and behold walking down the street towards us was Simon Kirke. We shook hands and had a few words in conversation about the BBC Radio 2 gig and what tonight was going to be like. When there we bumped into Mick Ralphs having a crafty smoke and had a chat with a couple of photos. Cynthia (Paul's wife) came out for some sunshine and we chatted for a while, she then took some stuff in from us to be signed, Mr Rodgers I hope you know how lucky you are to have her in your life :) . I cannot thank her enough for her hospitality.
Joe Perry Project hit the stage and I was quite impressed with them, as I had heard non too flattering reports of the set. I couldn't fault it. It had songs from his solo albums , plus songs from the new 'Have Guitar Will Travel' cd. Witty musings from Joe inbetween tunes , even answering calls from the crowd to turn the fckg guitar up , which was duly done by the soundman. He has assembled a fine set of musicians for the Project and has a find in Haegen as his singer, Mr Tyler be warned. Biggest surprise of the night for me was bumping into, literally, Deborah Bonham. She is a wonderful lady, had a great chat before and after the gig and might be doing some stuff on this site later.
Postioned at the front.....Bad Company hit the stage with the pulsating red lights exacting an erratic heartbeat, getting more active nearer the first chords of 'Can't Get Enough' the crowd roaring with approval. The band really seemed to be enjoying themselves running about , smiling and acknowledging the audience. They went through a greatest hits set with the surprise inclusion being 'Youngblood' the crowd singing along and interacting with Paul as he conducted them through the verses. The stage cleared for Paul and Mick to do the fantastic acoustic 'Seagull' The roof went off the place with everyone, even a few stewards singing along with this one. 'Burnin' Sky' saw the stage covered with more dry ice than Hammer Productions used for their films, great lighting used with this song and the visuals on the backdrop screen. Highlight of the set for me was the glorious 'Simple Man' superb intro from Howard and Mick, the song was perfection. 'Electricland' received a roar from the crowd as its probably the only time the Uk will ever hear it live, very underrated song that I always loved. 'Feel Like Makin' Love' had Howard playing the mandolin and acoustic for the intro before the rest of the band kicked in with yet another joyous crowd singalong, Paul playing harmonica on the solo spot. 'Shooting Star' was probably the most emotional song of the night. During the playing the back screen showed the faces of the rock stars that were taken all to quickly from us. Big cheers went up for Boz Burrell and Paul Kossoff. Later Deborah told me how emotional she was at seeing her brother John Bonham up on the screen. 'Rock N Roll Fantasy' has the familiar band in the line routine which this time included Joe Perry in it as he joined them for the second half of the song. The band finished the main set with the rockin' 'Movin' On' Lynn Sorensen thumping away on bass
Encore time and 'Ready For Love' was another great singalong for the crowd who didnt let the side down. Final song was the signature tune 'Bad Company' Paul at the piano again with clouds of dry ice covering the stage. Simons drumming on this track is immense. Concert over the crowd stamping their feet and cheering them away.

Wembley Arena the next night is a venue that quite frankly I despise. Its only function seems to me is to rip off the public as much as possible. It has to take a bloody good band for me to go anywhere near it. Steve Rodgers was added to the bill tonight and he was very very good , the crowd really enjoying it. Joe Perry Project played the same set bar one song which was 'Train Kept A Rollin' Bad Company hit the stage , the set being recorded by Concert Live for cd release and also filmed for probable dvd release later in the year. They played the same set as the night before at Brighton, only doing a second encore of the brilliant 'Deal With The Preacher' being the difference.

Once the band had finished another great gig , I couldn't wait to escape the clutches of Wembley.
